根据2017年2月20日全民公投的决定，2017年3月10日起，纳卡共和国改国名为阿尔扎赫共和国（纳戈尔诺-卡拉巴赫共和国）Republic of Artsakh (Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh)。


维基英文纳卡国名已经改为Republic of Artsakh，纳卡总统官方网站已经使用Republic of Artsakh（http://www.president.nkr.am/），外交部官方网站虽然仍用Nagorno Karabakh Republic，但官方文稿已经使用Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh Republic)（http://www.nkr.am/en/）。
目前，两个国名同时使用，以Republic of Artsakh 为主。

The separatists controlling Azerbaijan's breakaway Nagorno-Karabakh region have strengthened their executive leader's powers in a referendum that international observers warned was illegal.

The separatist region's de facto Central Election Commission said on February 21 that 87.6 percent of voters supported changing its form of governance from semipresidential to fully presidential.

Nagorno-Karabakh will have no prime minister, and the de facto president will appoint government ministers.

Other amendments include the change of the region's name from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic to the Republic of Artsakh, but the two names will be treated as synonymous.

Turnout in the February 20 vote was 76 percent, the commission said.

Artsakh 国名渊源和含义

Artsakh was the tenth province (nahang) of the Kingdom of Armenia from 189 BC until 387 AD and afterwards a region of the Caucasian Albanian satrapy of Sasanid Persia from 387 to the 7th century.

Much of historical Artsakh presently overlaps with the region of Nagorno-Karabakh, and is controlled by Artsakh Republic, known as Nagorno-Karabakh Republic until early 2017.

According to Armenian and Western specialists, inscriptions dating to the Urartian period mention the region under a variety of names: "Ardakh", "Urdekhe", and "Atakhuni." In speaking about Armenia in his Geography, the classical historian Strabo refers to an Armenian region which he calls "Orchistene.", which again is believed to be a Greek version of the old name of Artsakh.

Folk etymology holds that the name is derived from "Ar" (Aran) and "tsakh" (woods, garden) (i.e., the gardens of Aran Sisakean, the first nakharar of northeastern Armenia).

既然主体民族亚美尼亚人自己叫artsakh，那就应该是这个名字。

就比如 雅库特人自称是萨哈人，所以名字现在也改为萨哈共和国，萨哈族

二十多年前，就知道纳卡之争。
当时的世界知识还专门报道过。
