Celebratory activities on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Uighur Autonomous district of Almaty oblast passed last Saturday. Akim of oblast Shalbay Kulmakhanov, director of the district administration Vladimir Tokhtasunov, honorary citizens of the district, public officials and representatives of diplomatic bodies of 24 countries, different international and nongovernmental organizations took part in the celebration. Vladimir Tokhtasunov told about social and economic situation in the district and its history having touched upon most important events of the decade passed. During 70 years Uighur district has become the locus of friendship and unity and favored place for each resident?, Almaty oblast akim Shalbay Kulmakhanov read the congratulatory letter of the President. A concert and sport competitions and other activities passed after the official ceremony.
