2013-07-01: Bedford independent city merged with Bedford county（市并入县）. Beforethe merger, Bedford's population, according to the 2000 census, was6,222. Its area was 18 km.²; its FIPS code was 51515, and its HASC,US.VA.BC. Bedford county's HASC code was US.VA.BD.
