印加帝国的国名,在他们土著印第安人克丘亚族的语言里读作Tawantinsuyu,Tawantin是四个的意思,suyu是方面的意思,字面意思就是四方之国。
以首都库斯科为
中心,全国分为四个Suyu,汉语里可以音译为苏尤,字面意思是方向,也可以翻译成区,或大区。
四个苏尤分别是钦察(Chinchay,意为北方),安蒂(Anti,意为东方),科利亚(Qulla,意为南方),孔蒂(Kunti,意为西方)。
苏尤下划分为瓦玛尼(Wamani),英语里把它翻译成省。
