近日想起孟加拉国，看到一条
新闻，原文见后，“加济布尔市设立进入最后阶段”。
这个新市位于达卡北面，面积329.53平方公里，这在孟加拉国属于相当大，达卡市才154平方公里，吉大港市168平方公里。按新闻说法，该市（city corporation）将由现在的加济布尔和栋吉2个自治市（municipality）以及9个联合村（Union）
合并而成，这9个联合村还分属加济布尔和达卡2个县（zila）的5个分县（upzila）。星球

我刚才翻出2011年孟加拉国的
人口普查数据，找到了这2市9联合村的人口，加了一下，居然有
1,557,489人，其中栋吉有47.6万人，加济布尔才17.9万人
。如果设立，这是一个特大市啊。据悉，该市实际上早就被提议设立了的，但是有关工作一直没有完成。今年10月，该国最高法院还为这事质询过政府要求解释为什么还不宣布成立，见

另外，2011年5月，达卡东南的纳拉扬甘杰和邻近的2个市议会（municipality）进行了“三合一”合并，然后升格为市政局（city corporation），人口为71万（2011年人口普查值）。孟加拉国终于有了几个象样点
规模的市了，看起来和1.5亿人口的人口大国形象比较匹配了。

The upgrade of the Gazipurmunicipality to a city corporation with an area of 329.53 squarekilometers is now in final stages. The Tongi municipality having an areaof 32.36sq km will merge with the proposed Gazipur City Corporation,according to a local government division proposal.
The division on November 5 sent a summary of the proposal to the secretarycommittee on administrative development for the establishment of a newcity corporation with Tongi and Gazipur which were made municipalitiesin 1974 and 1986, officials said.
The Gazipur City Corporation would include Mirzapur and Baria unions ofthe district headquarters, Yarpur, Shimulia and Damsona unions of Savar,Nagari union of Kaliganj, Prahladpur union of Sripur and Mouchak andMadhyapara of Kaliakair, according to the summary signed by the localgovernment secretary Abu Alam Mohammad Shahid Khan.
Population and its density, local revenue, commercial importance,infrastructural facilities and also areas of Gazipur and Tongi have beenconsidered in the proposal for the upgrade of the municipalities to acity corporation.
The proposal for establishing the new city corporation would be placedfor approval of the National Implementation Committee for AdministrativeReforms/Reorganisation soon, an official said.
Gazipur will be 11th city corporation. Rangpur was the last to become a city corporation in July 2012.
